Liked: Whose Approval Are You Looking For?

Isn't that the golden question... Whose approval are you looking for?

Liked: Whose Approval Are You Looking For?, teens, image, self confidence, building self confidence, finding self worth, book, self help, book review, Kari Kampakis, Thomas Nelson Publishers, Booklook Bloggers, Via Bella, Young adults reads,

I chose this book because I felt that even in this day and age, we are all hyped up about what social media thinks of us. There is this perfect meme a friend posted about feeling like she is being chased down on social media for having an opinion... and she is an adult.

So this is holding true in so many respects. Although, this had to do with the election and she said she neither voted for Trump or Hillary thinking they were both horrible options. So, in stating her opinion, she felt she got hung out to dry because people on her friend's list didn't agree with her.

But that mean can honestly hold true for many different kinds of things and situation. When have you heard, okay, saw, people agrueing and risking life long friendships over Facebook because of politics or because of what Aunt Sue said? Is it really worth it?

The book is written, I feel, for teens and young adults. Just sitting here I am thinking that this really is a good book for everyone. We all need to re examine this. I don't think the self identity and self worth are a question of just one generation.

The book is written very well and very easy to read. Kari is able to write to be able to speak to all audiences very well which isn't always the case especially when you are bringing up topics that are normally only talked to for teens.

While the book does lean towards Christian views, of which I do struggle with sometimes, the ultimate truth that Kari Kampakis lays out is no less true because of her faith. In fact, I think it helps advocate and show not just through words but the convictions she has, that finding your inner self whether or not God in her respect is part of that, is incredibly important.

At the end of each topic or chapter, she has questions you can ask yourself and answer, right there in the book, which I appreciate. Some people, (raises hand), don't do a good job at journaling so when I can have a space right in the book to write and be able to reference why I wrote that, it is super helpful.

I think this would make a great gift for teens and young adults. Especially for Christmas when we are learning the true spirit of the season. There are so many potent questions that you can use this to help kick start a better year to being able to define you in whole new way. There is so much power in that.

Book Description

Would you rather be liked online—or loved in person?
Social media can be great. But for girls growing up in a generation saturated with social media, getting enough “likes,” comments, and online friends can become an unhealthy obsession.
In Liked, Kari Kampakis offers positive and powerful insights to help girls navigate the digital age. Applying God’s timeless truths to modern realities, this unique resource dives deeply into topics like social media, friendship, identity, and faith—while ultimately encouraging habits that lead to real and lasting relationships.
Liked can help girls think through those questions that may stir wildly in their mind and heart, such as:
Who am I? What is my purpose? How can I change the world and make an eternal difference? How can I love myself when I feel unlovable? For anyone tired of the quest to impress—and ready to rest in God’s unconditional love—Liked is the answer. This book is a conversation-starter that will quickly unite mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends by speaking to the female heart and addressing the need for approval with wisdom, hope, and grace.
