This is a book that I will be giving my child for either their birthday this coming week (oh me gee!-- they are turning 6!) or for Christmas. I haven't decided yet. Either way, it is a great present for him.
My son, 6, is not a full self starting reader yet, aka, isn't able to read on his own or without help. Whereas my oldest was reading chapter books by this point. Every kid is different. My son just is learning to read and I know this will be a super cute kids story he will enjoy.
This book is great because it is great for kids like mine who still love the stories geared towards younger kids (which he is) but one that can easily be read by parents at bed time.
It is about giving Charlie the freedom to try what he wants to do more so than what his parents actually thought was good for him or what most kids his age did. It was a nice way to even tell parents, hmmm, that they need to lighten up and let kids experience more on their own. But more over, it is just a super sweet laid back story.
I feel a good theme for the book could be "let it go... when it comes back to you... it's true"
It takes more than a few minutes to read which I appreciate. It lets kids imagine. It lets kids dream.
