Love Your Work: 4 Practical Ways You Can Pivot Your Career

In a time for me that I am looking to re assess what I am doing with my career life....

Love Your Work: 4 Practical Ways You Can Pivot Your Career, book review, moody publishers, robert dickie, self help, entreprenuership, practical tips

Which is not a whole lot right now because of the fact that I home school three children and am scout master for my girl scout troop of 46 girls plus a boy scout leader of 20 boys, plus this blog and my slow progress into entrepreneurship.

But reality is setting in and you can call it my separation as being the perfect fire under my butt to change what my goals are.... not that they will change in a way that is drastic, especially when it comes to the ideals of home schooling, but in terms of adding more to what I am already going to do. But do it with style and grace.

I am one to have many, maybe too many, goals in my life.

After coming out of what felt like a decade of fog, mist, and dismiss, I am coming to light in a way that I haven't in a long time. I have always been a creator of many things. I love to innovate and have fun doing it.

So this book was one that I was very very intrigued by.

It is written in story format. Which is great but it also has very practical tips that are going to be important to the changing of any one's career.

For example, in the first chapter of this book, it talks about being aware as your first step. AND even more importantly, giving yourself permission to follow the rules.

For example, he says that you need to listen to the wsj.com (Wall Street Journal) so you can read and keep up with what is happening globally. Now, we are in a global economy just as much as we are a local economy and we need to be aware of that!

Techcrunch.com is another one he says you should follow just because you can know what is going on around you.

Pod casts are another thing that he suggests because you can listen and be inspired from stories around you to be able to further your cause and career.

I really like how this is read and I am excited to keep reading but it is a very easy, inspiring, practical read. It doesn't completely take you step by step on what you need to do but rather give you stories to help guide you as well as practical tips. Sometimes learning how to progress is done through listening to stories that you have not listened to before you and seeing how they apply.

It is written in an almost interview format with a combination of self help added in.

I would give this book ☁☁☁☁☁ out of five.

* I was given this book by Moody Publishers in exchange for my honest review *
