Now, this isn't a lesson plan per everything that is required for your child to learn. However, it is a great supplement for them. And by supplement, I mean a *huge* resource and benefit to them!
For me as the teacher, it is also an ease and peace of mind to have a resource like this because my life is super busy and coming up with simple, to the point lessons, can sometimes be difficult. Especially when you want to make sure it covers everything.
There are literally over a thousand lessons that you can access using this service. 413 lessons for math (of all levels). 525 English Lessons (for all levels). 22 science lessons (mostly middle school). 26 history lessons (5th grade and up). 2 lessons of Art Pe and Music.
So as you can see this is mostly a huge benefit for math and English.
Having worked in the classroom setting before as a teacher's assistant before, I can say that the two main subjects that are precursors of learning for any student at any level is math and English. So I appreciate personally that they is where they put there focus on.
They align with two core different ways of thinking and processing that are super important to further learning and building the blocks of education for themselves.
Think about it!
You need math for any STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activity and promotes the abstract thinking as well as logical thinking. 1 +1 = 2 and at the same time, you can look at the side of a building and know it's angle (visual thinking).
You need English for being able to learn how to read, communicate, have the ability to understand what is being said to you or to take out of a situation to be able to function in the world. Especially now that we have become a world that English is becoming more wide spread to learn how to speak and communicate.
But even on the creative side, to be able to write a song, you have to know English and math to be able to do it. Beats are a huge piece of it- that abstract thinking to be able to hear it before you can write it. As well as making sure the poetry of the song is communicated right.
So these are the building blocks for your child's learning!
Of course, this is a supplemental piece of what you can use to put together your school cirruculum.
But what I like about these is that they are short and sweet. They are to the point and don't drag on. That is super helpful for both parents, teachers, and the children.
What I like about it:
* I am able to use for each of my kids.
* Not just one grade level
* Allows me to work with my kids where they are at (below or above grade level)
* Works as a great supplement
* Live chat if you have issues
* Site easily navigated
* The lessons are somewhat interactive as well as PDF
What I think can improve:
* Some download as a PDF and some load up on the site
* Every time I try to go back, I have to log back in
* Wish there were more lessons in it for every subject
