One reason why we wanted to review the no-nonsense math was that we wanted to see if it was going to be a great supplement for my older son. He doesn't always have the easiest time in math and so I felt like it was important to get him a jump start before the year began to get him back into the swing of things slowly especially for math since it's the subject that he loathes the most.
The company was really great about doing a follow-up and sending a replacement copy because the first one never made it to our house. In doing so it was really cool because I actually got to know a little bit more about the company and that was really cool. With being part of The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew for home schooling reviews, we get to review for companies all around the nation and around the world, which is really cool. This particular company actually is based out of where I used to live which was super cool because we started talking about local traffic and how bad it's on on Highway 17 so it was nice to get to know them on a personal level as well.
As far as the book I really appreciate how clean it looks and how it does not make things more confusing for the child. It doesn't give the child 30 problems to try to do to show that they know the material. It is done a more manageable way than most schools provide in their curriculum.
So I laid both his math book for sixth grade down and the no-nonsense math book as well side by side. I tried to pick a lesson that I could find both in both books. The one I ended up finding that both books had in common was Order of Operations. I looked for orders of operation because that's the beginning of his math book and I looked for that lesson in the no-nonsense math. The great thing about this is that it gives you the ability to compare and contrast both the lesson plan the objectives and the ease of how it is for the child to be able to learn.
You'll see my son's review below by the fact that he gave it 4 out of 5 stars is incredibly huge for him because he's not a person who gives High marks for math because it's not a subject that he likes at all. So as a parent it speaks absolute volumes to me that he actually really appreciates the easiness of this book which I found as well.
They also have videos and you sign up for an account (in which the code is right inside the book on the front cover). This is great because often you tend to lose the code, so that was ingenious. I think having the videos with the book make learning it that much easier and the videos really topped off how great this book and video set are as a resource and curriculum!
While it started off as a supplement it will most likely be used as a replacement for the lessons that correspond with the sixth-grade curriculum that he has. I have a huge level of appreciation for this company now because they made math easier for my son which is tremendously huge.

Avi's Math Review
The math was simple and easy to learn and it made learning math
easier and more fun. One thing that could make it better is more visuals in the book. But the videos were super quick and easy and totally made up for it. That would help me understand some of the more complicated equations. So the videos are great. Other than that, it was a nice and helpful program that was quick and it helped fix a problem I was having when I was doing school alone. Overall, I give 4 out of 5 stars because, as mentioned before, it would be helpful to have more visuals. Until next time, see you later!
