Carve

When I got the chance to be able to review this book I was super excited.  Why was I excited?

Because this was a simple guide to whittling.

Carve: A Simple Guide to Whittling

To be honest, I hadn't heard the term whittling until I got into scouting. And now, it is fun.

If you read my post here you will see that I am a scout leader that teaches whittling or knife skills to both my Cub Scouts and My Girl Scouts.  To me, whittling (or knife skills) is important to camping but also as a life skill as well.

This book takes it even a step further than what the scout learns. This is rightfully so because they are not only kids but they are beginning to learn. As an adult, we have some basic skills but this takes it from beginner to crafter quickly.  It shows you a bunch of crafts that you can make out of wood.

I definitely need to learn about different types of wood and how do I identify it based on this book because there's so many different cool opportunities to be able to carve some cool things.

This is a book that I think I'm going to even gift my kids because it is something that will keep them occupied during campouts for their younger brother. They both love to whittle.

And it's such a good way to make gifts for people that you know love. However, the skill will need to be practiced quite a bit among us all and good tools to give it the beautiful look.

The book is small so it is portable yet dense in information that is presented in an easy way. Which is a huge benefit because you can actually take the book with you when you are camping and utilize it in real time.

The book is also hardcover and just beautiful. The title carve is even carved into the book a little bit.

Something else that I like about it is that it goes beyond the basic rules that Cub Scouts learn for whittling. You can also learn different kinds of tools that you can use to whittle how to protect your hands about different kinds whittling techniques and so much more.

I give this book a 😍😍😍😍😍 out of 5.

Book Description:
