Breaking In Movie Review

So I gave away passes to see it here on the blog--- and I, too, went as a press person to review this movie. Why? Because I am a mum and I love seeing movies. Need I say more?

My Review:

This was a movie that I thought was perfect for Mother's Day for the non-traditional moms who don't always like the gushy stories.

I actually really really love and appreciate that the social standards were not only met but exceeded in terms of breaking stereotypes with the exception of one of the characters and I think that's definitely a step forward.

And mom was not only smart to think on her feet, she channelled every feeling a mum can have and she was all about protecting her babies.

And I think that any mom can completely identify with every single step and emotion that this mom took.  it was interesting talking to some who thought that the mom changed a little bit after the end of the movie where she was a little bit more teary-eyed. Any mom would completely identify with the adrenaline rush of protecting their babies and then when they're in the clear all they want to do is hold their babies and just be.

What I love seeing was Gabrielle Union be able to go from just being a mom to being a woman who battled four men, who clearly had a criminal past just looking to gain riches at the expense of this mum and her kids, on her own to be able to protect her family.

The one caveat I would say that I had with this movie was that I felt like it really wasn't PG-13 but yet it wasn't rated R either. So I would say that I think that we need to think of an in-between for ratings because it definitely made it a little bit more complicated to try to explain to people that it wasn't rated R because the trailer makes it look like it's more rated R material are but it definitely isn't. Yet it definitely isn't just a PG-13 movie either so I definitely would not suggest this for (younger) teens.

Older teens possibly but definitely not younger teens because I know my kid would not be cool seeing this movie at all possible until they are 18... and I say that from knowing my oldest child, not just being a mum.  On the other hand, I could very well see my son taking apart the different physics and all the cool moves that Gabrielle Union did.

Gabrielle Union not only starred in this movie- she stole the whole show in a good way.

All in all, I would actually rate this a 4.5 out of 5.

BREAKING IN is in theatres Friday, May 11

Rating PG-13
