Yea... I can't believe it either! Seriously!
END OF YEAR DEN PARTY SIGN UP!
Especially when I equivalate my Tiger scout crossing over to my older son finishing High School and going to college. That is even more of a shock to me! Honestly.
So, let's get the nitty gritty of it all so we end this year off well.
A month and two days from now we will have our End of the Year picnic where boys will earn rank! How cool is that?! Their second rank in cub scouts!
So here is how to make sure that you have a successful end of year experience for you, your scout, and the den as a whole!
At the next meeting, tonight, on the 7th of May, we will have a meeting solely focused on checking off requirements your son has done so you know EXACTLY what you need to do between now and the last meeting in June (the first week of June) to be able to make rank. Every parent will be required to sit with their child and the leader (one of the four of us) to mark these requirements off. We will allow the den chief, Kyle, to come up with a fun activity for the boys to do and we can have them play on the playground after pending weather.
BRING:
* PLEASE remember your books!
* Tiger leadership decided to try to get everyone their pins (for each adventure they completed up to rank) and this is not covered by pack dues since it would be cost prohibitive. So we are asking each family to bring $13 to cover the cost of the 6 pins for each of the requirements they have earned. I can bring my credit card reader tomorrow if you wish to do that (ask that you cover the fee). You can also Venmo, Paypal etc to me. I will be the one paying for the cost of these. I plan to get at the end of May, so it needs to be done by the 21st of May.
KEY THINGS FOR MAKING RANK:
1) Please go over the "protecting your child" pamphlet with your child as it is required for rank.
2) Do the cyber chip- it is required. You can do it here!
3) Duty to God requirement (with reporting back what you did) if you haven't done yet
4) If you have attended most to all of the meetings, his rank will be very easy to accomplish
5) Finish off the rest of any requirements and bring to the next two meetings showing completion so we can sign off and your son earns the rank.
What have we done?
Check the calendar here (I will update the latest stuff later today/this week too) to get the general idea of what we have done and will be doing so you come prepared to know if your son did it or not.
Who can sign off on requirements:
Myself (the den leader) or any of the assistant den leaders (Anthony, Sam or Jay)
Next Meetings: (quick overview- please check the calendar for details/sign ups/info)
May 7th- Go over requirements
May 16th- Pack Meeting (Family Scouting related)
May 21st- Do the "Safe and Smart" Requirements
June 4th- End of Year Den Party and Awards
June 9th- End of Year Pack Picnic & Rank Advancement
For the end of the year party, let's do goodie bags!!
I will provide zip lock bags with scouts' names on them (and of course, a goodie or a few). Please bring something for each scout that attends!
* Qty of 24 - enough for den 6 scouts, den chiefs, and sister girl scouts that attend and participate in every meeting & to include up to 4 extra siblings if they want one.
* It can be anything-- I am okay with candy, stickers, pencils, etc. It doesn't have to be the exact same thing either so long as everyone has an equal amount. So no worries. One year, we had a parent bring mc D happy meal toys for example so they weren't all the same. Hopefully, that makes sense.
* Don't forget to write on the signup what goodie you plan to bring so everyone doesn't bring the same thing.
Let me know what other electives they earned by WEDNESDAY eve, please! I have to have the report run and sent to the council to make sure to get the awards lined up for you guys!
So, if you haven't already, get the $13 for the pins for your son as the den voted to do this-- if you kid earned more than required, please send $2 for each additional pin (I will not personally cover them if not paid for already)
Ranks will be handed out to those unable to make the picnic. If you can come, please do as the picnic counts for a summertime award requirement where you have to attend a pack event 1x each month for June-August. Plus, the ceremony of getting your neckerchief handed down to you and them welcoming any new tigers is the best!
Please don't hesitate to call me with any questions you may have.
SIGN UP FOR SUMMER CAMP if you haven't already!
I have been very impressed with the boys, and the den family we have started. I am very thankful for each of you guys coming, being present, and working hard. This goes for both the parents just as much as the scouts. We are a den family and I am proud of that!
Yours in Scouting!
