The Better Mom Devotional

Well, I am a mum, right? So this should be the perfect devotional, right?

The tagline is "Shaping Our Hearts as We Shape Our Homes".

Definitely very catchy. But does the book meet that standard of catchy with lots of insight and daily thoughts that will propel the mum forward to that coffee versus right back to bed?

Pros:
* Hardcover
* Had a ribbon bookmarker built-in
* Quick reads that are practical
* There is a table of contents that you can easily jump days if you really wanted to
* Little daily affirmations after the daily read
* Not "dated" so you can choose what to read for each day and flip back and forth in the book
* There is some good advice in here (even if overall, I don't jive with this book as much as I want)
* Note pages in the back of the book

Cons:
* Does it have to be all pink?
* Why is there no space to write thoughts after the questions daily?
* Wish some of the daily affirmations were a little more secular
* Some the daily devotionals left things to be desired because it felt the story or devotional was cut off and you were left waiting for the rest of it.
* Felt that it could be less bullet point preachy because it takes a little bit from the credibility for me
* This book doesn't feel as helpful for me personally as I feel it could for others
* It feels that some of the devotionals are using bible or biblical verses as a crutch rather than a support and it is missing critical pieces that make devotionals useful (unless that is your thing).

Overall:
* I think this is a great book for some, but for me, it didn't strike me as something immediately that I would buy after looking at the book when I picked it off a bookshelf at a bookstore.
* While there are some days that really don't suit me, especially the ones that are more religious in nature, there are other ones that really hit home for me. IE: In what ways does God use your weakness?
* There is a daily affirmation and two questions but on the other hand, there is no space to write follow-ups on those in the book.

I teeter but will give this a 3 out of 5. I want to give it more but feel that it's not going to be a helpful book for me overall, even with some good pieces of info for me.
