TOMORROW is the day!
BRING:
- Blue cards if they weren't given to me already
- Lunch
- Snacks
- Water
- If they want to bring paper, pen that is great too
- Something to keep them occupied in the car or during any waiting periods
- Emergency numbers
- Medicine-- per both GSUSA & BSA rules, I need to hold their medicine and it must be in the original container, the main exception to this is inhalers and epi-pens (I need to know if they can self administer as well).
- Sweater/jacket
- CLASS A uniform (for girl scouts, this means their vest!)
Allergies? Let me know, but we will operate that each scout knows their own allergies and how to tend to them. I have not been made aware of any air bourne allergies that would prevent any lunches from being packed.
I will be bringing my first aid kit and am first aid/cpr certified. I will also bring all the blue cards I have for the scouts who have given them to me.
MEET UP/CARPOOL/DRIVING
We will meet up to carpool at 310 Tulip Ave, Takoma Park MD 20912. 9:15am DO NOT be late! We will leave no later than 930 am. So we can be there on time giving a little room for traffic, given that there is a marathon downtown. If you are later than a few minutes, unfortunately, you will be responsible for getting your scout down to the farm. If you are arriving a minute late, please message and we will wait. But we can't wait to too long!
If you are driving on your own, please check out the Rock n Roll Marathon route... and avoid it!
DAY OF:
I would RSVP on FB since I will do updates from there --> https://www.facebook.com/events/243864246330693/
If I can, I will do a live video so you can see what they are doing! But if we are running late on the way back, details you need to know, we will post there!
PRE WORK
At last night's merit badge pre-work session, the implement dealer, Mr. John Groff, referenced the document linked below (the prework for the merit badges). There were not enough copies for everyone, so I have scanned and attached it in case people wanted to see it again.
Also, for those Scouts who do not yet have a copy of the Merit Badge Workbooks that the farm requested you bring on Saturday, they are available at:
Please try to do all of the pre-work ahead of time, so that you can get your blue card signed off on at the event. If you haven’t done it in advance, it will be much more difficult to get the blue card signed off on later.
The pre-work for each badge is listed below!
And for those who were asking where the farm is located:
"We would like to meet you guys on the farm between 10:30 and 11. Meet as at the Kidwell Barn, which is the large red barn in the main farm area, where the pigs are kept. The address for the correct side of the park is 2709 West Ox Rd. You do not want to go to the Visitors Center side which is 2739 West OX Rd. We will start our Farm mechanics program at 11 o’clock and then we will have lunch at 1 then start animal science at 2 o’clock and finish everything up at 4 o’clock."

IMPORTANT Details:
* Scouts must be 11 years or older (old enough to be in Boy Scouts)
* RSVPs are first to come, first to pay & are NOT complete without payment or talking to me about the financial need (and confirmed coverage)
* The full payment is the cost of the merit badge and the gas money both (the full $40). Gas money will be distributed to carpool drivers the morning of.
* The full payment is the cost of the merit badge and the gas money both (the full $40). Gas money will be distributed to carpool drivers the morning of.
* If there is enough interest (and payment), I will seek a second date for the merit badges for any scouts wanting to earn them. Boy Scout Troop 33 & Girl Scout Troop 5823 (older girls) get first priority on the 9th March date. If a second date is picked, it will be after.
* Cost of the patches aren't included in the cost as boy scout troops normally pay for this, so payment for the merit badges will be needed for scouts in other girl scout troops, and I will order them.
* Refunds will only be given to those where their spot is not confirmed. However, if you find you can't go, you can swap spots with someone who can.
* If you are interested in one spot only, that will be based on availability and if someone can attend the opposite session (I will ask if we can have extra spots if needed).

* Questions, comment below on the post and I will respond or email me.
