CERT Training Interest Form
I have been wanting to do a CERT training for a long time! It is well worthwhile and a training that will stay with you! It put me as a Level 1 and 2 First Aid trained person for scouts.
It is a 20-hour training but I guarantee it prepared me more than just my first aid alone could do. Therefore, I would LOVE to get some scout leaders trained.
AND DID I MENTION... IT'S FREE?!
If you are a new pack or troop starting out, even financially, this makes sense!
Please fill out the interest form below so I can gauge the interest in the course and what option would be best.
This is from the gentleman who would be doing the training below:
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates families and individuals about preparing for disasters or hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using their training CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an incident until professional emergency responders and critical resources arrive.
CERT members promote emergency preparedness, give critical support to first responders in emergencies, provide immediate assistance to victims, collect disaster information to support first responder efforts and provide help in the period immediately following a major emergency or disaster. CERT enables individuals to help their families and neighbors prepare, respond and recover within their own neighborhood.
CERT program is offered by Serve DC – the Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism and Partnership, this is a 20-25 hour program and run over a 5 day period (average 4 hour day) and include one/two breaks (depending). Please note, some adjustments to the agenda may be required to allow discussion of hazards specific to a community and — depending on class size — to allow all participants to take part in the exercise portions of this course.
For your group, I am willing to deviate from the standard timeline, I will be more flexible. I am offering a few options, please let me know your thoughts.
