Fired Up to Learn Excelerate SPANISH

I am excited to be able to have my kids learn Spanish by using Excelerate SPANISH Streaming. We are definitely excited to be able to review Excelerate SPANISH.

The idea of taking classroom setting into the home and show you the lessons are becoming more of a common practice. And this is no different. And believe it or not, you can use your computer and display on your Firestick to be able to take learning to the next level.

Registration:
An email is sent to you with your code or when you pay you are getting confirmation of payment. Then you go immediately go in and get started on the video.

Starting with the videos:
My oldest son felt it was a little outdated, to be honest. But then again, he thinks anything older than him is a dinosaur. Got to love teenagers. Haha.

How to do more than one child at a time:
I ended up doing it classroom style and connected my laptop and my amazon fire stick but doing a mirror image connect. So we can all watch the videos together. Which is helpful for me as a parent because one of my children who are Autistic, and really both my sons, who both have ADHD can use reminder and guidance sometimes. My daughter, I plan to use this to help her for her homework for Spanish Class as she is starting to learn it more in the public school system this year and any additional help is a good help.

About the Videos:
They are short and sweet. They encourage you to get up, move around, and interact as if you are in a traditional classroom.
They are about 35 minutes long per lesson. This is most definitely ideal length.
She has them act out the words and phrases that she is learning and it's in a classroom setting. She writes down the words and phrases. I wish though, that she would pause a little more between words to make sure they can write down the words.

What you need to supplement:
Make sure to have a notebook for Spanish and pencil at the ready.

How I did it:

I am having them watch each video at least twice. Once through to hear it and to practice the audio. During the first time of doing it, I also stopped it when I noticed any errors and asked them what they noticed.

For example: When she goes "Va a la parada de autobus" she does not add in what "a" means but verbalised the meaning of the sentence. This happens again with other words and phrases as well.

Why is this crucial to learning?
The kids, especially those that are Spanish for the first time, will hear it but not see it written down and not make the connection.

And then a second time to be able to reiterate what they just learned and to write it down in their notebooks.

For my kids, I think it could take a few times of watching each lesson to be able to have it sink in. kind of like an introduction, a practice and a review of the lesson. So that way the lesson sticks more.

What do I like about this:

It is done in a way that connects the four key different parts of learning. Writing, Oral, Audio, and Kinetic learning. Which is super important. I really appreciate this as a teacher.

So while there is some adding of words that aren't part of the vocabulary words or phrases that are written down, this isn't always a bad thing. It teaches kids critical skills to be able to learn on the fly through expression and context.

I can also use this for both my homeschool students as well as my public school student-- which is crucial and vital to enhancing the learning for all students at home.

I think that the way she teaches by subject and doing is SUPER important. She connects the action to the phrases and makes learning Spanish more fun and less about the mundane way we are used to learning and starting with the alphabet. I appreciate this so much because it's more of an immersion approach.

I LOVE the way that she teaches and think overall it's going to be a GREAT and PERFECT program to be able to learn Spanish for my kids.

I will preface both of my sons' reviews with that they are definitely more of critiques. I think over time as they get more used to it, they will actually grow to LOVE it.

What do I think needs improving:

Like my sons' state below, the quality of the video is tough sometimes. I didn't hear the high pitch noise the way they did, but they both stated they heard it.

It would be nice to have her pause to give time for students to be able to write down the words. Even if we physically pause it on our end, which I did several times, the video would then lag and give issues causing some technical difficulties.

It would be nice for her to be able to share in English, the words she is using. For example:

"Otra vez" "Let's do that again!"

To be able to verbalise the words she is using that she hasn't written down in both English and Spanish is vital to being able to learn the skill of listening and paying attention to what it means in an auditory fashion.

Older Son's Review:

I found it that it is helpful with people who have previous knowledge of the subject but it would be a little problematic for those that don't have previous knowledge because there is a skipping of learning some introductory words that are important to know.

It incorporated all kinds of learning, including visual, textual, tactile, and audio which allows for any students of being engaged.

I found there was a distracting high pitch noise in the background which made it hard to be able to pay better attention.

I also found the quality of the video was a little bit low so it was harder to make out what the instructor was writing down.

Overall, I would give it a 3 out of 5, mainly because of the things I mentioned above and it seemed like a copy directed for other people and not meant for us. Otherwise, I am looking forward to using it to help me learn Spanish more.

Younger Son's Review:

Like my bigger brother said, it's distracting because of the audio. Sometimes the camera was too far so I couldn't see the words when she was saying them.

When she wrote the words down, I couldn't see them. So I couldn't write them down quickly because she didn't give us time even with pausing to write them down.

The kids also weren't saying the words out loud when they are doing the actions all the time and that made it harder. They will remember it better and it's proven that they will if do they both at the same time.

I give it 4 stars out of 5 stars. I am looking forward to learning Spanish this way but there is one thing. She tries to have you learn the words really fast.

Overall: I would EASILY give it a 4 out of 5 and recommend to a friend. We are going to be learning Spanish this way this year & translating into everyday usage when we go places.
