This is a great way to have my six year old learn to read. However, I will not sit down with him and do lessons with it or anything. I am going to let him lead the discussion and be able to tell me which story he wants to read.
That is controversial I am sure. But I do know that it is effective in letting kids be able to have a say in their faith.
As far as the book goes, I love that it is hardcover. When you are talking a kids book, if the book is hardcover, I am by far more likely to buy it. However, soft cover ones tend to shred fast.
The one thing I do not like about this book is that the middle seam of the book seems small for how many pages are in it. When I open the book to the first page, you can see it is "sewn" or "attached" in certain spots rather than totally. I think they though about half the durability of the book.
For the story, it definitely is written in story fashion to introduce biblical stories to the children.
The pages are very durable and I feel if my kids were to spill their spaghetti on it while reading at the table, which happens more than I like to care to admit, that it would be much easier to clean off and not affect the pages. I wish they didn't read as much while they ate but they do. I can see them when they are old and reading the newspaper (likely on kindle), while having their morning coffee.
The pictures are very cartoon-ish and remind me when I was a kid. They are great in colour and I think most any kid would like them. They do their best to make it not overly cartoon-ish but very well detailed.
Overall, this is a cute kids book.
