Weigl Publishers

We received three media enhanced books,  GlaciersA Lion's World, and There Once Was a Cowpoke Who Swallowed an Ant from Weigl Publishers.

I am having my daughter review each element of both the stories and the applications used to be able to tell the stories. I personally thought it was really cool to see the stories told on multimedia platforms. What I personally liked as a teacher and a mum was that the Glaciers book online through multimedia had lots of tools which were perfect for her level. She could also put them into editable pdf online and be able to fill out as a worksheet instead of printing out or writing on paper. I really appreciate this as I don't have a printer and my daughter doesn't like to always hand write things. (I know, she has it easy compared to how we grew up, right? Haha.)

There were aspects of this product that I, as a teacher, really appreciated and liked especially the ones geared for the older kids. I liked them because they were interactive. I felt the other stories were a little too simplified and really geared towards Kinder kids.

You can have the books be read to you.

Having to put in individual book codes was a tad annoying because it was a two step verification which I felt was a bit tedious. I would improve that. The code should be enough because requiring word verification on top of that was a bit too much and lagged things sometimes.

While we are only reviewing a few books, they have a TON of books that you can do from Kinder to much older kids.

There Once Was a Cowpoke Who Swallowed an Ant is meant for younger kids- K-2 but I would definitely say it's more preK-1st.

A Lion's World is more just for fun and both my kids really like it.

Glaciers is Grade 3-6 but I would say 3-5. My daughter and I can verify, had issues with some of the interactive worksheets. PLEASE make them editable without having to download and then upload into a free PDF filler because that made it harder. It took me quite a while to figure that out. Also, don't ask questions that the child can't find the answers on the page you are asking about. For the most part, it's fine, but on one part, I just had my daughter skip it.

Glaciers was my favourite and with a ton of potential which I greatly appreciate! Simply because of the interactivity, puzzles, and worksheets.

This product has a lot of potentials to grow and become big in my personal opinion.

Now, let's see what my daughter had to say!

Via's Review:

"Glaciers" using Light Box--

Hi, My name is Via and today I will be reviewing Glaciers- Weigl Publishers this program talks about glaciers, how they are formed, etc. The program includes many cool things to help you learn such as… videos and tapes, activity sheets that you can type in, audio so that you don’t have to read, slideshows, and links to things online. It has a nice secure way so that people can’t get into it easily without doing a few things that make sure you paid for it.

This paragraph is about what I do like about this program and to be honest I have a lot of things to say. First I like that I can interact with the program because I can understand everything better. I also like that I can watch videos\tapes because it gives me a perspective of others and just how amazing it is and it helps me get the whole picture and idea. I like the audio because people that can’t read well can listen to what it is so that they can understand it still or for people that want to hear how something is pronounced. I like the slideshows because I can understand what I am learning step by step. Finally, I like how they secure it and the web links and that is because security is important and the web links are helpful so I can understand what I am learning better.

"A Lion's World" using Eye Discovery--
first thing I want to say is that this is for a very beginner's readers zone, so it’s not my reading level. I like how they have videos so to give a visual perspective. I also like how they have it in big text so it is easier to read( not that I would need it.) I really like how it has audio so that you can hear what it is saying to the kids that can’t read yet. Finally, I like that the facts are simple and easy to remember. I would recommend this to kids 5 - 8 because I don’t think anyone older would not like or learn much from it.

"There Once Was a Cowpoke Who Swallowed an Ant" using AV2--

The cowpoke story is funny and is a silly nonsense story. I like the way that they present it with funny looking pictures and silly problems and solutions. I also like that they give you the option of reading yourself or have it read to you.
