I Declare War

To be honest, when I first received this book, wasn't sure how I was going to like it. I had mixed feelings but when I opened it, I have to be honest that I was very surprised and now am looking forward to reading this book.

There are pages where there are "cards" that are visual "memes" that you, well, I at least and I am sure many people, will relate to. But before I get more into the book itself, let's look at the context of its' pages first.

What is in this book?

Card 1: Declare War on What You Think
* The Wolf You Never Knew You Wanted to Be
* (+) or (-)?
* TSA on the Brain
* The Secret to a Miserable Life

Card 2: Declare War on What You Say
* Mind Your Words
* If You Say So
* Being Rude is Not Cheap

Card 3: Declare War on What You Do
* Take Back the Controls
* Start Before You're Ready
* The Game Before the Game

Card 4: Phantom Power (The Help You Need to Win the War)
* Never Bring a Horse to a Tank Fight
* Butterflies & Eagles
* A trip to the Dump

Likes:
* Quick Read
* Very powerful
* reads like a story
* Has little spots to write at the end of chapter
* Breaks the 4th wall
* Great quotables

Dislikes:
* Although he breaks the 4th wall, in theatre speak, in the book, he also assumes the response
* The story telling, which is compelling, is also boring at times
* While the Bible is weaved in well, sometimes it goes on too long to be a book that will be easily readible to those of non faith.

I think overall, it's a really good book.  It gives you food for thought and some really good tips for being able to move forward from a negative nancy mind frame to a positive new year mind frame. This is crucial.

I may even give this book to my older kids to read because it's easy to get discouraged with everything going on. Especially when they don't get the grades they expect or don't feel heard, etc.

I give this book a 4 out of 5.
