Techie Homeschool Mom

We are excited to be able to put the A in A+ and the A in STEAM today by reviewing the Famous Artists Online Unit Study (Vol. 2) byTechie Homeschool Mom for you!

Now, you read this right... Techie Homeschool Mom is doing Famous Artists series online. How you ask? Because she modernises how it looks to learn about art online.

As part of the Homeschool Review Crew- you will be able to also read about ALL the offerings she has on her online school, and these courses are as such (but not limited to):

Ancient Egypt Online Unit Study
Ancient Greece Online Unit Study
Ancient Rome Online Unit Study
Famous Artists Online Unit Study (Vol. 1)
Famous Artists Online Unit Study (Vol. 2)
Famous Inventors Online Unit Study
Solar System Online Unit Study

I think my next favourite one to do is Ancient Egypt-- it was always a place I was obsessed with.

I learned about new applications such as Emaze which I had never heard about that she utilises.

The look of the course itself in terms of likability but also usability is spot on, especially for more millennial parents who are using more online technology in their schooling process. I like to have both in the process to be able to school my kids. That is, both online and offline.

She also has where people can respond online and chat with each other-- a lot like Facebook. Which makes connecting with other homeschooling parents great. It's always a way to connect with her if you are having issues or questions which is great because then you may have a question that another parent needs to hear.

She does a great job at not only sharing about Emaze but walking you through how to navigate it to help compliment her curriculum

What was amazing was that while we were talking about American Regionalism art and talking about what democracy was and wasn't-- then the fall of it due to the rise of Totalitarianism in Europe, we then went on a huge history lesson that you can't just buy in a book. It came through immense curiosity. That is definitely something we can say that is important in terms of learning. To dig deep. And as far as curriculum goes, especially for art, this one DEFINITELY does that. Which makes me love it even more.

We are having a lot of fun and you REALLY need to be prepared, because you will need more time to dig into the lessons and be prepared to answer questions, learn new things, and explore off topic but related things. I am such a HUGE fan of this and SO excited to be able to review it with my kids.

This by far has to be one of the more exciting ways we have learned about this curriculum.

My daughter thinks that there should be a parent-child section so that way the parents and children can communicate, keep track of things, individualise the education of each child more, and grade it. That is totally my daughter and I am super proud of her because those ideas are genius.

She has this idea all drawn out too-- including to have offline work be graded online instead of just marking it complete.

I like it that is a little bit easier the way she has it set up, honestly. But adding some of the features that my daughter suggested would be cool as well since she does have a platform for parents to chat or comment much like a facebook status.

Here is here full review:

Hello, it’s me, Via, again. This time I’m reviewing famous artists. First I would like to say that I really like easy it is to understand. Most school websites have different details that I would have to go over and over again, and it took more time to learn then it could’ve. With Famous Artists though, it was easy to understand and that made it short in time, fun, and I learned more.

Another thing I liked is what I was learning. It was interesting and exciting and I especially loved the idea of my gallery. The website is amazing and has inspired me to create my own masterpieces even if mine aren’t famous. One of my critics(there are always critics) is that it feels like it’s missing something. Though it is fun and interesting it's just lacking that little nudge it needs to become that much better. I’m not sure what it is but once it’s added I know it’s going to improve on the website alot. And something I feel is as if it’s to sharp. Like it’s square and we want a circle. But overall I love this website and the idea of this website. I feel like If this website was a person I would want to hug them. Sounds weird but is so true.
