Starfall Education

Who doesn't have education applications on their iPad, iPhone, tablet or phone? It's another application we are getting to review, which is The Starfall Home Membership by Starfall Education Foundation. 

This is what we thought about it:

We thought we would like this better but that is because my kids were way above academically than the application has to provide. Though it can be good for most Kinders, it was not as good for mine in terms of learning but he had a lot of fun using it.

We really like, especially me as a mum, that it covers a wide range of topics. Math, reading, numbers, storytelling, phonics, language arts, social studies. This is perfect when you are on the go or travelling to be able to keep up with some school and even better that it is using games.

Why? Because kids generally love learning through games as a more effective means of learning. I think that is the most effective means of learning sometimes when you are on the go, even though I like having my kids do things from book to paper still.

My daughter did the multiplication part and whizzed through it and then it took her back to the beginning. Which was rather frustrating for me as a parent only because it didn't seem to do enough in terms of being able to challenge her.

For my son, it was helpful though he tended to know a lot of it. So it was a great reinforcement. Keep in mind though that it is not meant as a replacement but just as a fun supplement to what they are already learning through schooling, either at home or through a brick and mortar public school.

For kids who are struggling in school or even special needs, I do suggest this application because it will help them tremendously. It takes the school pressure off and puts a game aspect into it.

For kids who are pre-k, this is a great way to get them started in learning basics before going to school. And for kids who are Kinder to reinforce what they are learning.

Overall, this wasn't the best fit for our family, but I like having the application to have something my son can do on the go but also for when I am babysitting or having my younger scouts over.
