White House Holidays Unit Studies

We are reviewing White House Holidays Unit Studies by Silverdale Press LLC. This is a social studies/history of holidays that have been celebrated or honoured at the White House. It is meant for K-12 grade. They even break down per grade level which is great.

I had my daughter do her answer in a separate document in her school folder for this unit. 

What I really like about this is that you can study not just normal "boring" US history but that you can learn about some of the very things that have helped define our country's traditions, even in the smallest ways. 

It also introduced some very real concepts that are hard for parents to normally talk about with their kids because of them being taboo or that schools don't always touch on. For example, Labour Day. She learned a little about children and their working rights. Given the current climate of the country right now, there are many important lessons to be learned from this and can be incorporated between learning past history and how it relates to the current day issues. 

I really like how they lay it out and how they are smaller reads and activities for the kids to do. It is easier to put them into categories and piecemeal the lessons. This is exceptionally important for kids that sometimes suffer from school anxiety. Being able to break down lessons into manageable chunks is super vital to being able to absorb the information taught. 

I definitely suggest this and think that kids of all ages will like it. I am 100% positive that you can easily supplement the lessons as well with library books, online resources and so much more. This unit though is stand-alone great!

Hi my name is via and today I will be reviewing Silver Press. this is A program that helps me learn about the holidays of the White House & other holidays like Labor Day, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas these are all great examples and it it is really fun to learn ‘em so let's get into more detail. I like how it they have you read the pages but it's not really long so you don't have to read for an hour to get everything you want to know. I also like how they do the questions and the pictures. When they ended though I feel like it's incomplete I think they should do something a little more to tie it up to per se add a little bit more information. more knowledge I guess thats right word, well words. more knowledge  to learn.
